GPACT Membership Information

Are you wondering, "Why should I join?"  Do you want the Application for membership?

GPACT offers 4 types of membership: Advocate, Affiliate, Facility, and Therapist explained below. For a therapist, there are six levels of membership certifications based on education and experience. They require the same basic requirements for membership.

Membership Dues

The cost to join is $150 per year USD and $75 per year for renewals.

Basic/General Membership Requirements

Before GPACT can certify you and accept your membership, we need some information to determine your eligibility. In addition to the application form, here is a list of relevant documents and items that you should include with your application packet. If you can’t provide them for any reason, please tell us why in a written explanation. All information will be held in the strictest confidence.

Recent graduates are temporarily exempt from some items, but are required to submit data upon employment. 

Please include ALL of the following in your application packet or within 60-days of submission. Failure to provide proof within timeframe will terminate your membership until proof is provided.
  1. Signed GPACT application for membership
  2. A copy of your high school diploma, GED, equivalent, or higher certification
  3. A copy of your transcripts showing postsecondary education level Anatomy & Physiology (equivalent to three (3) semester hours)
  4. A copy of your current CPR certification
  5. A copy of your professional colon hydrotherapy training certification to show you have graduated from a recognized GPACT Educational Facility

  6. A copy of your resume/curriculum vitae (CV) as though you were applying for a hydrotherapy position. You can copy what you list on your LinkedIn page. We use this information to add detail to your Profile page.
  7. A copy of all your related degrees and certificates including 1 CEU (Continuing Education (CE)/Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Unit) annually.
  8. Submit photos of your facility including:
    -therapy room(s)
    -waiting area
    -exterior signage
    -exterior (storefront, doorway)
    -reception area
    -colonic device(s)
  9. Submit a BLANK copy of your intake form
  10. Provide proof that you carry malpractice/public liability insurance.
  11. Provide a copy of your client/patient privacy rules
  12. Provide a current copy of an invoice or receipt proof of the purchase and use of disposable speculums for closed system or disposable rectal tubes/nozzles for open system.
Members are required to adhere to GPACT's best practices as stated in "The Pillars of Excellence and Safety"

Members are required to:

  • Use only disposable single use speculums, nozzles, and tubing.
  • Use professional colon hydrotherapy equipment that has been cleared/approved for legal use in its location (i.e., F.D.A. Class II cleared*, C.E., T.G.A., Health Canada, etc.).
  • Respect and comply with client/patient privacy requirements and standards:

All Members shall work within the ethical boundaries as stated by the World Health Organization; "there is a growing international consensus that all clients/patients have a fundamental right to privacy, to the confidentiality of their medical information, to consent to or to refuse treatment, and to be informed about relevant risk to them of medical procedures. Therefore all members shall: respect and comply with client/patient privacy. Members in the USA may be bound by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA for Practitioners in the USA).

  • Help ensure that each client/patient and doctor is aware of the contraindications for colon hydrotherapy before any therapy may be conducted by providing them with a bona fide list compiled by gastroenterologists.
  • Maintain malpractice and general liability insurance policy(s).
  • Complete professional continuing education annually.
  • Will not diagnose or otherwise work in any way that may be considered practicing medicine unless they are licensed to do so.

Members are provided with the following support to help ensure public safety:

  • Official Contraindications documents written by Gastroenterologists.
  • Comprehensive Operating Protocols and Standards.
    • Includes safety, hygiene, and maintenance protocols along with emergency procedures.

GPACT stands alone as the first and only association to create a curriculum and educational program for the
indicated use of colon hydrotherapy according to the U.S. F.D.A.’s Code of Federal Regulation Sec. 876.5220.
(b) Classification. (1) Class II (performance standards) when the device is intended for colon cleansing when
medically indicated, such as before radiological or endoscopic examinations.

You do not have to mail your application packet. If you do not have a scanner or fax machine, you can submit your application packet by email taking clear photographs of each page of the document you printed and completed.
